After clicking 'Check All Sites For Reciprocal Links', LinkMachine always stalls, getting stuck at a particular percentage part-way through the reciprocal link check. How can I prevent it from hanging?
This is usually due to one particular site that is inaccessible by LinkMachine for some reason. Follow the below instructions to fix this problem.
1) Click on Check All Sites For Reciprocal Links to initiate a reciprocal link check.
2) When the link check eventually stalls, open this URL in a browser:
http://www.mydomain.com/linkmachine/log_recip_check.txt
(Make sure to replace www.mydomain.com with your own site's domain!)
3) That file contains the URL of the page that LinkMachine is checking when it stalls.
4) On LinkMachine's admin page, set Show to Search and enter the domain of the URL found in that log into the search box. This should bring up the problem site.
5) Either click Remove to set that site's status to Removed (doing this will remove the site from your link directory), or set its status to One Way Link (doing this will continue listing the site in your link directory but will no longer check for the reciprocal link on that site).
By removing the problem site from the set of sites that LinkMachine checks for reciprocal links, LinkMachine should no longer stall during the process.
